We know it’s been a tough few days for everyone. The election was exhausting, pool season is officially over and we’re about to enter the rat race of the holiday season. So we rounded up events that give you a much-needed respite from this week’s madness and the fever of what’s to come:
Gangstas to Growers empowers at-risk youth and the formerly incarcerated through agriculture, employment, and entrepreneurship. Join their celebration of this vibrant program; bring drums, “gifts that inspire thought” and your best potluck vittles!
Second Helpings Atlanta is partnering with Redbird Events to throw a food truck fest! The perks: a kids zone with inflatables, bumpin’ tunes, an artist market and a slew of food trucks. So go crush those kimchi tacos while you support an organization that fills the bellies of others.
Local brews and finger lickin’ soul food always taste better when you’re giving back to causes like the Music Maker Relief Fund. Slap on your dancin’ shoes, and shimmy and shake your way across the dance floor for a howlin’ good time at the 10th Annual Homebrew Hootenanny.
Holy escapism, Batman! Bikes + Films is screening “Ovarian Psycos,” a film about a women of color cycle squad who use their bicycles to confront violence in their lives. Pedal on over to Murmur Gallery and check out this 5-year celebration of Red, Bike & Green Atlanta with food, drinks, music, and this riveting movie.
